Just another minor marketing spat? Maybe not. The ads were inspired by KDP’s recent legal climb-down, when it agreed to settle a class-action suit over the allegedly small amounts of actual ginger in Canada Dry ginger ale, and to drop the words “Made From Real Ginger” from the label. Ginger is a favorite ingredient for health-conscious consumers, and it’s said to help relieve upset stomachs and arthritis pain — though there’s apparently no hard data to support the pain-curing claims, according to WebMD.
Reed’s, a small “craft” soda company, says that Reed’s Ginger Beer is made with organic real ginger from Peru. Citing the terms of the Canada Dry legal settlement, Reed’s also claims to contain at least “a thousand times as much ginger” as its better known rival. .
