The city of Cleveland’s Landmarks Commission has taken the first step to approving a downtown mural project on the south wall of the historic Standard Building.

Though the commission did not move to vote on the mural, Bidwell said he was looking forward to returning at a later date with more details on the project. she planned to incorporate aspects of the city’s history of industry, racial segregation and connection to the Underground Railroad“Those are the ideas that drew me,’’ she said. “This is a huge scale. It’s a huge time commitment. It’s something immense, and if it stays there it will be a big part of the square.”
