A poll out of Georgia shows voters are nearly split down the middle between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump in 2024.

The political action committee connected to Gov. Brian Kemp , Hardworking Americans, surveyed some 600 likely voters in the state before the federal indictment against Trump was released. Trump garnered 42% of voters, while Biden had 41.4%, according to the poll. Some 16% were still undecided. Those surveyed seemed to show a decreasing likelihood to vote for Biden. Over 45% reported they voted for the Democratic candidate in 2020.

“The road to the White House runs through Georgia, but it hits a dead end if Republicans nominate candidates next year who struggle to win general elections,” executive director of Hardworking Americans, Cody Hall, tweeted Friday.Trump is slated to appear Saturday at the Georgia Republican Convention, while Kemp and other top state officials are reportedly not attending the event, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The poll was conducted by Cygnal from June 5-7 with 600 likely general election voters in Georgia and had a margin of error of 3.99 percentage points.
