A win here is massive for either side's conference hopes, and our college football picks expect Georgia Southern to cover the small spread.We get a pivotal Sun Belt East battle as the Georgia State Panthers visit the Georgia Southern Eagles on Thursday night.
Georgia Southern quarterback Davis Brin has already thrown for 2,122 yards with 14 touchdowns while completing 67% of his passes. Now, Brin can take some risks. He has 11 interceptions for the season, but five of those came in a bit of a meltdown against Wisconsin. Now, the Georgia State offense is more balanced than Georgia Southern’s, but this is still a run-first scheme and that plays into the strength of the Eagles’ defense. Georgia State allows just 3.9 yards per carry this season and ranks a surprising 48th in defensive success rate.
I mentioned that I’m not sure Georgia State will be able to keep up with Georgia Southern here, and may not do its part when it comes to the total. So, I’m going to bump the number up a bit and take the Under alternate total of 66.5.Georgia Southern opened this Sun Belt battle as 2.5-point home chalk but it has been Georgia State who has seen the very early action, moving the number down to Eagles -1.5.
