Friendswood hit its share of screaming shots Saturday at Dell Diamond, but they too often fell in the gloves of the Georgetown defense as the Eagles escaped with a 2-1 victory in the Class 5A state championship baseball game in Round Rock.
With Georgetown leading 2-1, Ayden Pearcy led off the Friendswood top of the seventh inning with a double to left-center and was bunted to third base by Tatum Black. Friendswood trimmed the lead to 2-1 after Lockhart reached on a one-out error at third base, which allowed him to reach second. Pearcy led off with a single, and after Black struck out, Lockhart grounded out to third, moving Pearcy to second.
