He said the high prices have been affecting the company’s cab drivers, who pay for their own fuel. “The single substantial refinery in Alaska in Nikiski does tens of thousands of barrels of oil a day, whereas the highly efficient refiners in the Lower 48 do hundreds of thousands of barrels a day,” he said.
