A gas leak forced more than 100 residents of Lawrence, Mass., to leave their homes early this morning, officials said. The leak comes about a year after the area was rocked by a series of natural gas explosions and fires. (WBUR)

Lawrence Mayor Dan Rivera and Columbia Gas of Massachusetts President Mark Kempic speak during a press conference Friday morning. A gas leak forced residents out of their homes around 3 a.m., officials said.

Police say the affected area is along South Broadway between Andover and Merrimack streets. Lawrence Fire Chief Brian Moriarty said the department responded to a call for a high pressure gas leak in the area at 3:15 a.m.
