Here’s information on Garland’s active COVID cases and how to get the vaccine locally.
Updated March 9 with new active case numbers.
At least 24.4% of Garland’s population has been infected with COVID-19, according to city data, as the rise in active COVID-19 cases appears to have slowed. Garland’s active COVID-19 case numbers, which were in decline for nearly three months, significantly increased because of the omicron variant. But, new cases of COVID-19 in the city slowed this week as the omicron variant wanes.
From the arrival of omicron in Texas on Dec. 6 to Jan. 26, active cases in Garland rose by about 2,510%, from 315 to 8,224. In the last month, cases have decreased more than 90%, from 4,977 to 335 — which is similar to the city’s active case counts from late July.
