The hysteria starts Thursday. Here’s where you’ll be able to get your fingers on those crispy chicken strips, Texas toast and peppery Cane sauce.
Tired of fried chicken yet? Didn’t think so. What are widely lauded as the crispiest, swoon-worthy fried chicken fingers in the country are making their Bay Area debut this week.
Raising Cane’s, the Louisiana-based chicken chain — yes, chain — is opening its first location in Northern California this Thursday at 8430 Edgewater Drive in Oakland.will offer marinated, hand-battered and cooked-to-order chicken tenderloin combo meals and peppery Cane sauce through its mobile app, drive-thru, takeout and dine-in from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday to Wednesday and until 3:30 a.m. Thursday to Saturday.
In honor of the grand opening, the restaurant will hold a drawing to award 20 customers ages 13 and older free Raising Cane’s for a year. Raising Cane’s will accept entries between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. July 14 and will announce the winners at 8 a.m. “Caniacs” must be present to win. On Thursday, the first 100 dine-in customers to order a combo meal will also receive a commemorative Cane’s T-shirt and The Box Combo gift card to use on their next visit.
Raising Cane’s has opened more than 700 restaurants since its debut in 1996. The Oakland spot marks the 72nd Raising Cane’s in California, including in Vacaville, Stockton and Elk Grove. Following the Oakland opening, two more Bay Area locations are slated to open this year in Berkeley and Hayward. In addition to chicken, Raising Cane’s is known for crinkle-cut fries, buttered Texas toast, sweet tea and lemonade.
