Magnolia freshman Stevie South, fourth from the left in the front row, poses with her USA U15 junior women's national team after they won the gold medal earlier this month in Peru.While competing for the USA junior women’s national team at the U15 Pan-American Games earlier this month in Peru, Stevie South signed her first autograph.
South advanced through two tryouts to be chosen as one of 18 to make the USA team. In Peru, she hit .684 with 11 RBIs, 10 extra-base hits and one home run in eight games. South was baptized early on in the fundamentals of the game, like baserunning and situational softball, and leadership skills. There was a moment during Magnolia’s game at Lake Creek on Friday that showed just how much opponents respect South.
