“While I think it’s a big deal to make an advisory basically discouraging certain Canadians to go to the United States, I think it is merited in this case because of the nature of the language around these bills, which are truly alarming,” he said.
“We’re not talking about a situation where the state is organized around a certain form of fundamental sexual morality. But some of these states, Tennessee is an example, are now more similar to or analogous to or parallel with Russia on these issues,” he said. “I think our government has shown that that’s a priority … that we’re able to manage that relationship, regardless of the choices that the people of the United States make,” she said.Article content
“Even as we work hard on that government-to-government relationship, every Canadian government, very much including our government, needs to put at the centre of everything we do the interests and the safety of every single Canadian and every single group of Canadians,” she said.The travel advisory comes as politicians in Canada have been grappling with the issue of minors who ask to change genders.
