FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Republican Frank Tomaszewski is running for district 34 in the Alaska House.
He said he is running to be a voice for those who feel unrepresented by their legislators. “What I would really love to see the legislature do is follow the law. I know it’s a unique concept, but for some reason over the past several years, the legislature has seemed to only follow some statutes and ignore others. I think it needs to be a legislature that follows the law and fulfills their promises as a legislator.
Tomaszewski is in favor of a statutory Permanent Fund Dividend. “I would like to see the legislature promote real fiscal discipline. We need to have an efficient, measured-based results government, and we need to be able to see what resources are we putting into certain programs and what resources are we not, and how are they being used, and what are the results. We always need to be checking the results and adjusting as needed.
Tomaszewski moved to Fairbanks 43 years ago, at the age of seven. “I’ve loved living in Fairbanks. This was a great place to grow up. I have five children and one granddaughter. They’ve all been born here in Fairbanks, and I just love this community and I love what it represents in the state of Alaska and for the people of Alaska.”
Tomaszewski is running against Nate Demars and incumbent Grier Hopkins in the primary election on August 16.
