Meet Taiwan's first homegrown electric pickup truck comes from a familiar source.
, and the INDI One. With that context, the company's latest EV concept, the Foxtron Model V pickup, which was unveiled alongside the sleek Pininfarina-designed Model B crossover, seems intriguing.
Wait, what? An electric pickup truck? From ... Taiwan? Yes! The Model V looks like a fairly compact or small midsize truck, at least in photos, with a mishmash of styling cues. There are Cadillac-style vertical LED slats that waterfall from Honda-esque headlights, a Nissan-like"floating roof" attempt in the black-painted trim separating the rear roof pillars from the roof itself, and the taillights remind us somewhat of the newest Tundra's pieces.
That said, there are plenty of unique flourishes, including the charge door's outline that's picked up by the windshield pillar angle, a clear panel where the grille on a gas-fed vehicle might be that appears to shroud some kind of camera array or message board, and the H-shaped headlight innards. That H theme is no accident—Foxconn's real name, Hon Hai Technology Group, which traces its roots back to 1974, likely is the inspiration for those Hs.
No specifics are given relating to the motors or batteries, but for reference, the Model C Foxconn is putting into production next year is said to deliver a 430-plus-mile range, a 3.8-ish-second zero-to-60-mph time, and a slippery 0.28 coefficient of drag. Obviously, a blockier, less aerodynamic shape like the Model V's would stunt those figures if Foxconn were to, say, port the C's powertrain over to the truck unchanged.
