'If you want to start a problem and to inflame racial tension even more, start blaming people who have nothing to do with slavery, for the sin of slavery,' conservative commentator Katie Pavlich said.
Fox News analyst Katie Pavlich argued that America should get “credit” for being “the first country to end" slavery"in 150 years” while discussing reparations on the cable news network on Tuesday.
The conservative commentator went on to condemn reparations, on the grounds that they implicate people who weren’t involved in slavery. “We were the first country that decided to end it, and we’re still dealing with the issue. But if you want to start a problem and to inflame racial tension even more, start blaming people who have nothing to do with slavery, for the sin of slavery,” Pavlich said.
Although Warren didn’t explicitly call for direct payments last night, she backed a House bill to more thoroughly analyze the issue and address racial injustice. “This is a stain on America and we’re not going to fix that, we’re not going to change that, until we address it head on, directly,” the Democratic presidential candidate said. “And make no mistake, it’s not just the original founding. It’s just what happened generation after generation.
