BREAKING: Four people were killed and two children were injured during a shooting in Philadelphia, police say.
Four people were killed and two others, both minors, were injured when a gunman opened fire in a Philadelphia neighborhood Monday, police said.
The injured were described as a 2-year-old and 13-year-old, both boys, who were stable at a hospital, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle M. Outlaw said at a news conference. The gunman was described as a man with a semiautomatic rifle, a handgun, body armor or ballistic clothing, and a police scanner, police said. He also had multiple magazines of ammunition, the commissioner said.
Officers responding to the attack heard shots and gave chase, and the suspect continued firing, Outlaw said at an evening news conference. He finally stopped when cornered in an alley and surrendered without incident, the commissioner said.reported that the attack took place multiple locations.An additional suspect who may have picked up a firearm and returned fire was also in custody, police said at the news conference.Police were investigating the violence and any possible motive.Dennis Romero is a breaking news reporter for NBC News Digital.
