“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of former [USU football] player Kyle Gallagher,” the USU football team tweeted. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Kyle and his family in this time.”

Gallagher played for the Aggies from 2007-2011. He saw action in 49 games, tallying 291 total tackles, 133 of which were solo. In his two final years at Utah State, he recorded 91 and 100 tackles, respectively, which came second only to eventual nine-time All-Pro selection Bobby Wagner. Former Aggies coach Gary Andersen appears to have released a statement through USU Assistant Athletic Director Zach Nyborg with his thoughts on Gallagher’s death.
“He was tough, passionate, competitive, caring if you deserved it, and a teammate that forced everyone to bring their ‘A’ game daily,” Andersen’s statement reads in part. “He also became a loving husband, a wonderful father, and created a life for himself and his family that I am proud of.”I echo his words. Kyle brought so much energy & a blue collar attitude that set the bar for his teammates. He embodied everything you want in a teammate.
