A former Scots firefighter has been jailed for the rape and sexual assault of 'vulnerable' young girls in the Philippines in a ground-breaking legal case.
Campbell previously pled guilty at the High Court in Edinburgh to 13 sexual offence charges between June 2012 and July 2014. At his sentencing today, the former retained firefighter was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment. He was further given a three-year sentence extension, during which he will be subject to close supervision.Fraser Gibson, Scotland’s Procurator Fiscal for High Court Sexual Offences, said Campbell was instrumental in "dreadful abuse" against children.
“British nationals who sexually abuse children abroad will face justice here. Legislation allows us to prosecute them and we will use every power available to us to ensure that they do, working with specialist police, international partners and cybercrime teams to track down these abusers.
