Former Rockets player Jared Jeffries won new car on 'The Price is Right'
Boston Celtics center Jermaine O'Neal and Houston Rockets power forward Jared Jeffries had to be separated by officials after a skirmish during a 108-102 Celtics loss at TD Garden on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011.Jared Jeffries was an NBA lottery pick who played 11 seasons in the league, so he may not need a new Toyota Corolla. It also seems unlikely that his 6-foot-11 frame would even fit the modestly sized car.
Nevertheless, Jeffries, who played 36 games for the Rockets in 2010 and 2011, ran around"The Price Is Right" stage like any other giddy contestant on the CBS game show when he won the new carJeffries, who was in the audience wearing matching T-shirts that read"My money's on Team Showdown" along with his girlfriend Natalia and friend Gregory Bach, was one of the first contestants asked to"come on down," and immediately got pulled on stage when he came the...
Host Drew Carey never mentioned Jeffries' previous profession, only commenting,"You're still taller than I am," when Jeffries bent down on one knee while playing the game"One Away." In the game, contestants try to guess the price of the new Corolla, and Jeffries almost nailed it with his first guess and quickly was able to decipher the car was priced at $22,376. When he won, Jeffries sprinted around the stage with his finger pointed to the sky before going to peek inside his prize.
