Former Premier League striker Cedric Roussel sadly passes away aged 45
Former Premier League striker Cedric Roussel has sadly passed away at the age of just 45.
The Belgian attacker suffered a heart attack in his homeland on Saturday afternoon in the city of Mons.The ex-striker partnered Robbie Keane in attack for the Sky Blues during his time at the clubEmergency services rushed to the scene but were unable to revive Roussel, leaving behind one son named Cameron who was born in 2001.He's best known in the UK for his time with Coventry City and Wolves, having spent four years in English football.
After two years with the Sky Blues where he partnered Robbie Keane, he then joined Wolves in 2001, staying for two years again before moving on to join Genk.Most of his success came with Mons in Belgium where he spent two separate spells, first a loan spell in 2003 before playing for the club again between 2007 and 2010.
Roussel eventually retired from the game in 2015 and opted to move out of football to start a new career in real estate. Coventry City are deeply saddened to learn of the death of our former striker Cedric Roussel, at the age of just 45.Our condolences are with his family and friends at this very sad time.
