A judge was considering Barnes' case at a hearing in a specialist court in London on Wednesday.
A bankruptcy petition has been lodged against former Celtic boss John Barnes after it was revealed he owes £238,000 in tax.
Judge Catherine Burton was told by an HM Revenue & Customs official that Barnes, who was not at the hearing, owed £238,000. She made no orders and said the case would be reconsidered on November 29.
