Two months after his White House departure, former chief of staff Ron Klain is returning to a law firm he worked at in the early 2000s.

Klain will start as a partner in global legal firm O'Melveny's litigation department and as a member of the company's executive committee Monday, Axios reported. In his new capacity, Klain is expected to have the freedom to serve as an informal senior adviser to President Joe Biden's likely reelection bid.

As part of the new gig, Klain will oversee the company's strategic counseling and crisis management practice and advise clients on a range of topics, such as national security, healthcare, technology, and more.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER After Biden delivered his second State of the Union address earlier this year, Klain stepped down as chief of staff, a role he held since the beginning of the administration. He was succeeded by Jeff Zients, who spearheaded the White House's COVID-19 task force.

Since taking the reins, Zients has shaken up staff and the style of leadership from the chief of staff's office, emphasizing efficiency and tweeting less. Klain has defended Zients and praised his successor.
