Ford, GM and Toyota are teaming up to build out a safety framework for self-driving vehicles in an initiative that includes no tech firms

Three global auto makers said they would join forces to create a set of standards for the development of self-driving cars.

Ford Motor Co., General Motors Co. and Toyota Motor Co.—along with the automotive industry group SAE International—plan to set up the Automated Vehicle Safety Consortium with the aim of building out a safety framework for autonomous vehicles.
