Coach Kelvin Sampson has overseen four of the best calendar years in terms of wins in UH basketball history.Although the University of Houston came up one win shy of a return trip to the Final Four, 2022 was a banner year for the men’s basketball program.
The 35 wins during the calendar year were a program record, surpassing the previous mark of 34 set by Phi Slama Jama in 1983. UH went 35-5 overall, a .875 winning percentage that ranks fourth overall in school history. Of the 10 winningest years in program history, four have come in the past five years under coach Kelvin Sampson.
