Manchester City have a crucial run of fixtures coming up and will need as many players at their best as possible.
There's still one final international break of 2023 to go before the fixtures truly come at breakneck speed over the festive period but Manchester City do have six games in the next three weeks in which Pep Guardiola will want his side to begin to find their best rhythm. Though it's been a very good start to the campaign in terms of results, only tainted by recent defeats to Wolves and Arsenal, the Blues have not yet been performing at their best.
He still has eight goals in eight Premier League games and is still leading the charts, which by anyone else's standards is an astonishing start. But by the Norwegian sensation's freakish capabilities, he's actually down by nearly half on the 15 he already had at the same stage last season. But, he will no doubt want to see his side step up a level in the coming weeks. City face Brighton on their return to action at the weekend which is no easy fixture and have to play Manchester United and Chelsea away in the weeks to follow. They're important fixtures which the Blues will need to win as they try and edge out their rivals in the title race.
John Stones started his first match of the season on Tuesday as England defeated Italy 3-1 to secure Euro 2024 qualification. While he looked understandably rusty in the opening proceedings as Italy took the lead, Stones grew into the match and started to show his class in possession. Something City have desperately missed.
