Sophomore setter Maddie Harden helped Floresville breeze through the first two rounds of the Class 4A volleyball playoffs last week with wins over Beeville Jones and Zapata and was voted the Express-News Athlete of the Week. Harden combined for 79 assists in the pair of sweeps, including an eye-popping 47 against Beeville.
This week, Harden helped Floresville to a sweep of Corpus Christi Tuloso-Midway in the third round Monday. Floresville fell in four sets to Wimberley in the regional semifinals Friday. Cardenas, Bandera's senior quarterback, was named offensive player of the week after he threw for 116 yards and two touchdowns on 5-of-7 passing and rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries in a 41-29 win over Carrizo Springs.
