The Purdue freshman guard, who had a career-high 22 points at Nebraska on Dec. 10, torched the Cornhuskers again.The win is coach Matt Painter's 400th at Purdue, putting him in elite company within the Big Ten.
He joins his former coach Gene Keady, along with Indiana's Bob Knight, Michigan State's Tom Izzo and Illinois' Lou Henson as the only coaches with 400 victories at a Big Ten school. It gives the Boilers a regular-season sweep over Nebraska after defeating the Huskers in overtime on Dec. 10.Even though Loyer scored 22 points at Nebraska last month, it came on 2 of 10 from beyond the arc. On Friday, the Homestead High School product came out hot, hitting 4 of 6 from the outside to start. Those 12 points put Purdue ahead 15-4 early. Loyer finished 6 of 12 from beyond 3-point range.Nebraska knows how to defend the Boilermaker big man.
