Forecasters say thunderstorms might drift toward the coast before dawn on Sunday
A flash flood warning will be in effect for San Diego County’s mountains and deserts through 11 p.m. Saturday due to the monsoon, which is carrying moist, unstable air into the region from Arizona.The National Weather Service says that thunderstorms could pop up throughout the eastern half of the county, and it’s possible that lightning will occur at or near the coast late Saturday night and early Sunday.
The weather service also has issued a high surf advisory for San Diego County beaches, which will be in effect through 5 p.m. on Wednesday. A swell out of the west is expected to produce waves in the 3 foot to 5 foot range on Monday, with sets to 6 feet, on Monday and possibly Tuesday. The waves will produce strong rip currents.
