ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Flagler Health+ had exactly zero COVID-19 patients admitted to its St. Augustine hospital on Wednesday, something that it hasn’t seen since the pandemic began. According to Flagler Health+, it has been over two years since they became the first health care system in Northeast Florida to treat a COVID-19 patient and since then, they have cared for nearly 2,000 patients.Interim President and CEO Carlton DeVooght said, “our caregivers — clinical and non-clinical, at the bedside and behind the scenes — have worked tirelessly over the past 736 days to care for patients during some of their darkest days.

Flagler Health+ Chief Physician Executive, David Rice, M.D. said this does not mean the pandemic is over nor does it mean efforts will be scaled back, but it gives the health care system a moment to recognize its staff.
