The 30-year-old died after police were called to Leith Street, near the Omni Centre close to its junction with Greenside Row, at around 7.45pm on Friday. The dad-of-three was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he passed away a short time later.
She had earlier posted: "It is with great sadness that I’m writing this but on Friday 2nd June at 8pm we sadly lost our brother Peter. We are all in shock and can’t believe he’s gone."I’ll always remember you for the good times and bad. You were my brother who was taken too soon. We can’t believe this has happened to us, it’s something that you see in the news not happening to you.

Investigators believe the incident involved a number of other people. A 41-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment while a 46-year-old woman was also arrested in connection with a minor assault. "The area would have been busy at the time of the incident and we are encouraging anyone who may have seen or heard a disturbance to get in touch. I am also keen to speak to anyone with any CCTV, dashcam or any other footage that they think would assist the enquiry."
