March 16 was a date Jack Smith had been waiting to welcome for weeks, maybe even months, because this was the first day of Millburn boys lacrosse practice.
The 15-year-old freshman had played this sport in town since third grade and grew to love the speed, competitiveness and camaraderie of the game.
