Brendan Balloch, 23, appeared behind closed doors on petition at Greenock Sheriff Court.
A fifth man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Neil Canney following an alleged shooting in Greenock.
The case was committed for further examination and Balloch, of Greenock, is expected to appear in court again within the next eight days. He is the fifth person to be charged in connection with the shooting of Mr Canney on February 28.
