. The Maranello team were clear frontrunners alongside Red Bull.
Ferrari, alongside their customer teams Alfa Romeo and Haas, were heavily hampered with the reliability of their engines. The race in Baku saw only one of the six cars running a Ferrari engine finish the race through Mick Schumacher. The reliability was one of the main reasons as to why Max Verstappen and Red Bull eased away from the Scuderia to win both championships.Due to the current engine freeze until 2026, engine manufacturers are only able to work on reliability issues. However, it has been rumoured that the Maranello team have found extra performance also.
Ferrari Formula 1 engine boss Enrico Gualtieri acknowledges that the reliability was Ferrari’s ‘Achilles heel’ last season. Therefore, the team have “worked over the winter” to reach the “desired level of reliability”.
