Federal investigators are allegedly examining if Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez or his wife had taken gold bars worth up to $400,000 from a felon in exchange for help.

Witnesses are currently testifying before a Manhattan federal grand jury weighing whether to bring corruption charges against Menendez, the publication reported. that could have netted him up to a decade in prison for lying about a nearly $2 million loan from Mariner's Bank, where Daibes served as chairman.
