Blake Ryan Richards, 30, is charged with capital murder in the slayings of Brittany Richards and Ross Escalante last October in Plano.
Robert Richards, Blake and Brittany Richards’ father, told jurors — at times through tears — the duo had been “fussing” over who would be the beneficiary of their late-mother’s life insurance policy. Richardson police were called about a homicide that evening. Police then went to a relative’s Plano home in the 5800 block of Mulvane Drive in east Plano. Officers found the door open and discovered the couple’s bodies. Both were shot multiple times.Authorities later arrested Blake Richards at a Wylie Target.
Plano criminologists described the chaotic crime scene to jurors inside the two-story brick house. The gruesome photos were shown only to jurors.
