That’s what made his college decision so difficult. John, who played football at West Des Moines Valley, was offered a chance to walk on the Notre Dame football team if he got accepted to the university. When he did, he had a tough decision to make. Only two FBS schools offered him chances to walk on. Notre Dame was one. The other: Iowa State.
All his friends knew what a unique opportunity it would be. But as exciting as it may sound, John said he was hoping the often-projected matchup wouldn’t occur.
