Those looking forward to the Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre’s annual Bard-a-Thon event will have more time to brush up on their Shakespeare.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Those looking forward to the Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre’s annual Bard-a-Thon event will have more time to brush up on their Shakespeare.
The public reading of Shakespeare’s complete works, which traditionally takes place in February, was originally postponed until May, but has now been further delayed until this fall. According to FST’s Executive Director Emily Yates, the move was made to line up with the coming school year so that classes could participate.
Meanwhile, the non-profit has decided on “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” for their summer show, and the public is invited to audition, even if they aren’t too familiar with Shakespeare. “Our mission here is to be inclusive and to educate and give everyone an opportunity to step into uncomfortable waters,” Yates said, adding, “Auditioning is always a new process, every time you do it over and over again - so, really, if you’re intimidated, this is the place to come if you have any curiosity because we welcome you with open arms.”More information about FST can be found
