FNSB Mayor Bryce Ward “State of the Borough” live address to include upcoming budget proposal
As the Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly prepares for the long budget debate ahead, Mayor Bryce Ward delivered his annual State of the Borough address to the community.
He says the borough’s Capital Improvement Program , now in its third year, initiated 29 projects last year, and is expected to start 33 projects in the coming year. “It’s a big success. We went through our second revision over the last 10 months or so, and we’ve had a number of new projects brought into that CIP and a number of projects that have been cleaned out as they’ve been completed.”
His administration hopes to maintain or lower the borough’s mill rate for the next fiscal year. Ward explained, “I’m happy to say with the increase in values that we’ve had over the last year and then an eye towards management of our revenues... we’re proposing to bring down the mill rate by one two mills in this upcoming, in this recommended budget.”
