Preston, Blackburn, Chorley, Burnley and Clitheroe are forecast to be affected by thundery showers this afternoon
People across Lancashire will be waking up to glorious sunshine again this morning. However they should make the most of it as Met Office forecasts show more unsettled weather is on the way in the next few hours.
Hour-long thundery showers will then arrive in Preston at 3pm, followed by Chorley between 4pm and 6pm and then in Blackburn for an hour at 6pm. No thunderstorms are yet forecast for western areas, including Blackpool, Morecambe and Lancaster, with temperatures hitting highs of 29C. “Parts of Wales and England will see 30mm of rain in an hour, 60 to 80mm in some spots. North parts of Northern Ireland, south-west Scotland and the Highlands could see 20 to 30mm of rain in an hour during the thunderstorms, and 40 to 50mm in some spots.
Slightly cooler temperatures are on the way from Tuesday onwards, with Thursday and Friday in the mid-high 20s, the forecaster added. Monday: Another warm day with plenty of warm sunshine on offer. There is a risk of heavy showers into the afternoon which could be thundery. Light winds and feeling hot into the afternoon, especially outside of showers. Maximum temperature 26 °C.
