The Met Office has also predicted a return to warm weather in its long range forecast
The sunshine may be gone for now but forecasters say warm weather could return in the next few weeks. We'll have to endure a period of cooler, wetter temperatures first but when that's over we could get some unseasonably warm weather to give us a boost before winter.
The gardens are getting a good soaking now though, with temperatures also plummeting by several degrees. That is likely to remain the case until the end of this month, forecasters predict.Concerning weather for Monday October 2 to Tuesday October 10, Ian Simpson, forecaster for independent team Netweather, wrote on its blog: "It looks probable that we will see one or two relatively settled interludes early on in the period with ridges of high pressure moving in, most likely from the south.
He added it'll likely be "sunnier than average", particularly in the west of England, southwest of England and across Wales. High pressure will shift to the north of England by the end of this period in what has been described as an "anomaly," implying warmer air for this time of the year typically. But the weather before then will be rather unsettled and unpleasant, particularly this week despite the recent heatwave. Last night, amid a yellow weather warning, 40 to 50 millimetres of rain fell in just a few hours across parts of the Midlands. A further patch of low pressure will push across the UK on Wednesday night and into Thursday morning, and this is expected to bring more rain and wind.
