Ex-WorldCom CEO Bernie Ebbers granted early release from prison for health reasons after serving 13 years for role in historic accounting fraud
A federal judge has authorized the release of former WorldCom Inc. chief executive Bernard “Bernie” Ebbers from prison after more than 13 years because of his deteriorating health.
Judge Valerie Caproni on Wednesday granted his family’s request for a compassionate release. Mr. Ebbers, 78 years old, is serving a 25-year prison term for participating in one of the largest accounting frauds in history.
