Former US president Donald Trump has been charged over attempts to overturn the 2020 election result. Official court documents have confirmed the indictment tonight .
Mr Trump, who has been intending to run for election again in 2024, announced his own belief he would be indicted earlier this evening. Posting on his own social media platform, Truth Social, Mr Trump wrote: "I hear that Deranged Jack Smith, in order to interfere with the Presidential Election of 2024, will be putting out yet another Fake Indictment of your favorite President, me, at 5pm."Why didn’t they do this 2.
The indictment, issued by the US Justice Department, focuses on schemes by Mr Trump and his allies to subvert the transfer of power and keep him in office despite his loss to Mr Biden. It is the third criminal case brought against the former president as he seeks to reclaim the White House.
