Former New York Mets ace Matt Harvey took the stand Tuesday in the the trial of ex-Los Angeles Angels director of communications Eric Kay.
, who also had a dark side which included a gambling problem that led to prison, shared a story about Harvey’s alleged cocaine use.
“A woman reached out to me back then and sent me videos to prove that she was legit. I don’t want to get into all the specifics of the videos, but was basically looking to blackmail Matt and tell the world that Matt Harvey liked to do a lot of cocaine. And I remember I was put in a weird spot on it because she legitimately was in his apartment. That much I can certainly verify because of the videos that she sent me. And she was looking for like $100,000.
“And the whole thing went away, I don’t know if he wrote a check or not, but I remember talking to Matt and telling him that there’s a woman coming after him, and he put it off to his representation. And it’s not like I had five or six conversations with him, I didn’t. But I had one or two when I said, ‘I got video from your apartment. You’re in one of the videos. I know it’s you, I know it’s your apartment and this woman’s looking to blackmail you.
