The former Leeds United academy graduate enjoying quite the purple patch in front of goal
Former Leeds United youngster Dominic Poleon scored a hat-trick on international duty for Saint Lucia in their 5-1 win over Sint Maarten in their Nations League campaign. The 30-year-old is enjoying a purple patch in front of goal having helped fired Ebbsfleet to the National League South last season.
The Whites academy graduate has scored six goals in five appearances so far this season for the Fleet in the National League and continued his rich vein of form on international duty. In four seasons with Ebbsfleet, Poleon has scored 62 goals in just short of 100 appearances, 36 of which came in last year's title-winning campaign.
The frontman came through the academy set-ups at Chelsea and Southend United before signing for Leeds United in the summer of 2010 where he gained rave reviews. Poleon was the top scorer in the youth team with 12 goals in the 2011-12 campaign and signed a professional contract on the back of that form.
Poleon impressed in pre-season alongside the likes of Sam Byram, Lewis Turner, Nathan Turner and Monty Gimpel. The striker scored a number of times in pre-season and was rewarded by Neil Warnock with a number of opportunities in the first-team.Poleon made his debut in the League Cup against Shrewsbury Town before making his league debut two weeks later against Peterborough United, replacing Ross McCormack.
The youngster scored three goals in 36 appearances for Leeds before leaving in 2014 to join Oldham Athletic. He spent a number of seasons in League One and League Two with the likes of AFC Wimbledon, Bradford City, Crawley Town and Newport County before dropping into non-league with Dover Athletic on loan and then a permanent switch to Ebbsfleet in February 2021.
