Nathan Sparling pled not guilty at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and will stand trial next year.

Nathan Sparling was previously chief executive of HIV Scotland until December 2020, when he quit.Sparling, from Glasgow, has pled not guilty to a charge of embezzlement. A trial is due in May next year.They said the probe related to premises in York Place, Edinburgh – where HIV Scotland had its offices at the time.

HIV Scotland announced its closure earlier this year, having supported people with the condition for 30 years. Before it shut, HIV Scotland had received about £400,000 a year in funding, which included Scottish Government cash.
