Ex-CEO of Google advocated for implementing AI for the U.S. military to compete against China and other opponents.
Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt has advocated for the military use of artificial intelligence to build a more robust and adaptable defense system for the United States against China and other rivals.
He stated that the Pentagon must adapt to new technology more quickly, noting that the government has been slow to change. The start-up, Istari, which he co-founded, uses machine learning to build and test military weapons digitally."This unlocks the possibility of software-like agility for future physical systems—it is very exciting.
Schmidt stated at a gathering last fall that the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence changed his life by raising his awareness of China's threat to the U.S.
