The Rotten Tomatoes score for director Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise has been revealed, and the impressive figure tops a previous franchise record.
Evil Dead Rise's Rotten Tomatoes score has now been unveiled, and it sets a new record for the long-running franchise. After Sam Raimi created the franchise and directed the first three installments, the world of Evil Dead got a soft reboot in 2013 with Fede Álvarez's movie of the same name. Now, director Lee Cronin takes the reins for Evil Dead Rise, which is more closely connected to the original trilogy and features a new setting and cast of characters.

With 59 reviews as of this writing, the sequel currently sits at a lofty 95% on the Tomatometer, which beats the previous franchise record of 88% from 1987's Evil Dead 2.
How Evil Dead Rise's Rotten Tomatoes Score Compares To Past Entries Evil Dead Rise's Rotten Tomatoes score may be the best of the franchise, but that certainly doesn't mean the other films have low scores. Evil Dead 2 remains a franchise fan favorite, with Raimi largely improving and expanding on so much of what proved successful in his debut outing.
Evil Dead Rise's impressive score and the promise that the film is more closely connected to Raimi's original trilogy than the 2013 soft reboot is perhaps a sign that the franchise works best when not straying too far from its roots. Interestingly, however, Cronin's film takes place in a cramped Los Angeles apartment complex, which is a major deviation from all previous installments.
