There are eight declared candidates who did not qualify for the fifth debate: Cory Booker, Michael Bloomberg, Tulsi Gabbard, Julián Castro, Michael Bennet, Deval Patrick, Marianne Williamson, and John Delaney.pressing the party to relax the requirements for debate qualification, arguing in part that the lofty threshold has marginalized candidates of color. Of the seven candidates to qualify for Thursday’s debate, six are white.

“The DNC will not change the threshold for any one candidate and will not revert back to two consecutive nights with more than a dozen candidates,” DNC Chairman Tom Perez said in a statement to Politico. “Our qualification criteria is extremely low and reflects where we are in the race.”debates following Thursday’s — will take place January 14th in Des Moines, Iowa.
