Soon after, it will arrive in Florida just in time for Labor Day weekend. What is Hurricane Dorian? Dorian started as a Category 1 tropical storm in the Caribbean Sea yesterday, with winds of around 60 miles per hour. Many islands there have already been affected by storm conditions.
When is Hurricane Dorian going to hit Puerto Rico? Puerto Rico is expected to see tropical-storm conditions today, and possibly hurricane winds, with up to ten inches of rain. Hurricane-watch warnings have been issued, and Governor Wanda Vazquez has urged residents — still struggling after Hurricane Maria devastated the island in 2018 — to take precaution. Some residents are still living under “blue roofs,” a.k.a. “tarps.

By Friday evening, Dorian is forecasted to become a Category 1 hurricane as it tracks east of Turks and Caicos. Weather reports are estimating that it will hit the mainland sometime over Labor Day weekend, as early as Saturday night or Sunday morning.
