The Premier League relegation battle is coming to a head
Leeds United's survival hopes have received a boost with relegation rivals Everton missing two key players for this weekend's Premier League finale. Leeds, Everton and Leicester City are involved in a three-way relegation battle in which only one can survive.
Everton go into their home game against Bournemouth on Sunday two points ahead of both Leeds and Leicester and favourites to stay up knowing that a win will be enough for them regardless of how the others get on. But Toffees boss Sean Dyche revealed today that striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin and defender Nathan Patterson will miss out after they failed to recover in time after picking up injuries in last weekend's 1-1 draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
"We've still won games and still got points on the board, performed well. And Patto's come into the side more latterly, done very well, but we lose him as well." But there was some good news for the Merseysiders with midfielder Amadou Onana set to be available to face the Cherries despite there having been some concerns over his fitness after he also went off against Wolves. And there is a chance that defender Vitalii Mykolenko could be involved as he edges closer to a return from the groin injury that has kept him out recently, although a final decision on him will not be made until nearer the time.
Leeds wrap up their season at home to Spurs while Leicester are at home to West Ham. Both Leeds and Leicester know they must win to have any chance of staying up, but even that might not be enough depending on how Everton fare.
