The punishment plunged Nuno Espirito Santo’s side into the relegation zone, one point and one place below 17th-placed Luton Town, although the club are weighing up whether to appeal.
Everton were deducted 10 points earlier this season for breaking the financial rules. Their penalty was reduced to six points on appeal, but they are facing a second PSR charge. According to the Daily Mail, the Toffees will face an independent commission next week. The panel judging the case will reportedly work over the Easter weekend “in a desperate attempt” to follow the Premier League’s timetable for dealing with the cases. It is said the Toffees will use their previous penalty as mitigation in their second hearing "on the grounds that they have already been punished once". The Premier League are said to be “committed” to delivering a verdict on Everton’s second PSR charge by April 8 in order to limit the risk of being stuck with “a provisional table” at the end of the seaso
